Program
What
is HCCAP
The HCCAP
program assists individuals with disabilities with health care and
insurance matters.
HCCAP
is supported by funding received by DRNJ from:
•
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Administration on Developmental
Disabilities (PADD)/Center for Mental Health Services (PAIMI); and
•
U.S. Department of Education/Rehabilitation Services Administration
(PAIR, CAP)/National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation
Research (ATAC).
HCCAP
Services
The HCCAP
program at DRNJ provides comprehensive protection and advocacy services,
including targeted outreach to traditionally underserved minority
groups, and addresses individual and systemic issues by providing:
- information and referral
regarding available programs and services;
- legal representation
and non-legal advocacy;
- technical assistance
and advocacy services to assist individuals; and
- education and training
programs on disability rights and laws.
Who
is Eligible for HCCAP Services?
All individuals
with disabilities and their families or representatives are eligible
for HCCAP's services.
You can
seek assistance from HCCAP if you:
- Have
questions or concerns about your health care and insurance.
- Need information
about your rights and responsibilities.
- Need assistance navigating
the health care and insurance systems.
- Need help in asserting
your rights through self-advocacy.
- Are unable to resolve
a dispute with your insurance company or health care provider,
and may need advocacy and legal assistance.
HCCAP
also pursues systems advocacy to identify and address deficiencies
in the health care and insurance systems that provide services to
individuals with disabilities.
