DRNJ Training and Outreach

DRNJ's consumer education, training and outreach programs reached over 13,000 individuals in Fiscal Year 2011. Below is a sample of some of the events.

DRNJ staff:

• conducted a training on special education and juvenile justice at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges Conference
• provided training to parent support groups on DRNJ programs and services with special emphasis on Spanish speaking clients requesting transition and special education information.
• presented to professionals at the Burlington County Probation office about the new juvenile justice grant/program.
• conducted a training on End of Life Decision Making to professionals at the Mercer County Adult Protective Services office
• exhibited at numerous conventions and conferences including, NJEA, World Congress on Disability, TransActions, Autism NJ, National Caregivers Conference, Abilities Expo and NJ Association of Deaf
• conducted a workshop on “Legal and Ethical Issues in Developmental Disabilities” as part of the Continuing Education Program within the Institute for Families at the Rutgers School of Social Work in New Brunswick
• disseminated resource materials at events for veterans and their families
• exhibited at transition fairs throughout the state
• presented information to consumers and professionals about Advance Directives
• conducted training on assistive technology services and devices at residential facilities for seniors and individuals with disabilities
• provided information about SSA Work Incentives to consumers, professional and family members at 3 public libraries
